- Operate ballast hopper to supply an even flow of ballast to the specified thickness
- Operate tamper equipment to lift, line track and pack ballast to specification
- Dress track by final ballast spread and trim to meet the specified profile
- Check track to confirm that design and construction specifications are met
- Analyse and respond to abnormal performance
- Identify causes of abnormal performance from operating data and plant operating conditions
- Identify and report hazards according to workplace safety requirements
- Take corrective action to rectify abnormal performance according to workplace procedures
- Implement emergency procedures according to workplace safety procedures
- Complete work
- Clear the construction area of debris according to workplace procedures
- Store unused materials according to workplace procedures
- Shut down and park equipment according to operating procedures
- Clean and store tools, plant and equipment according to workplace procedures
- Record workplace information according to workplace requirements
